Archiving Policy

Digital Preservation Policy

The Journal of Social Science Perspectives (JOSSP) is dedicated to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published scholarly content. To uphold the integrity of academic research and ensure permanent availability, JOSSP employs a range of internationally recognized digital archiving systems and robust storage solutions.

  1. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe)

JOSSP employs the LOCKSS system to create a distributed, redundant archive across a global network of participating libraries. This ensures that social science research published by JOSSP remains secure, retrievable, and accessible even in cases of website outages or journal discontinuation.

  1. CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS)

JOSSP also participates in the CLOCKSS initiative, a community-governed archive that provides long-term preservation of open-access content. In the event of journal inactivity or publisher failure, CLOCKSS guarantees the continued availability of published articles.

  1. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

Through integration with the Public Knowledge Project’s Preservation Network (PKP PN), JOSSP ensures automated and reliable archiving of its content within the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. This enhances discoverability and aligns with global open-access preservation standards.

  1. CrossRef DOI Registration

Each article published in JOSSP is assigned a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) via CrossRef. These DOIs offer persistent linking and citation, ensuring permanent discoverability of content regardless of future platform changes.

  1. Institutional and Cloud-Based Backup

JOSSP maintains regular backups of all article files and associated metadata using both secure institutional repositories and encrypted cloud-based storage services. This multi-layered approach protects against data loss due to server failure, cyber threats, or accidental deletion.

  1. Self-Archiving Policy

JOSSP promotes open-access knowledge dissemination and allows authors to self-archive the following versions of their manuscripts:

Preprints: May be shared on non-commercial platforms with proper citation and acknowledgment of submission to JOSSP.

Accepted Manuscripts: May be deposited in institutional repositories or personal websites with full citation to the final published version.

Published PDFs: May be stored for personal or institutional use but not redistributed for commercial purposes.

By implementing these comprehensive preservation strategies, the Journal of Social Science Perspectives (JOSSP) ensures that its contributions to the field of social science remain permanently accessible, securely archived, and readily available to researchers, academics, and policy-makers worldwide.
