Waiver Eligibility

APC Waiver Policy

The Journal of Social Science Perspectives (JSSP) is committed to promoting equitable access to scholarly publishing. The journal recognizes that financial constraints may prevent some authors from paying the Article Processing Charge (APC). To support researchers from resource-limited settings while maintaining the sustainability of its Gold Open Access publishing model, JSSP offers APC waivers and discounts in accordance with the eligibility criteria outlined below.

Waiver & Discount Provisions

  • 100% APC Waiver: Corresponding authors affiliated with institutions located in countries classified by the World Bank as Low-Income Economies may apply for a full waiver of the Article Processing Charge.
  • 50% APC Discount: Corresponding authors affiliated with institutions located in countries classified by the World Bank as Lower-Middle-Income Economies may apply for a 50% discount on the Article Processing Charge.
  • Exceptional Circumstances: Authors experiencing genuine financial hardship, regardless of their country of affiliation, may request a partial or full APC waiver. Such requests are evaluated individually and should include a brief explanation of the circumstances supporting the request.

How to Apply

Requests for an APC waiver or discount should be submitted at the time of manuscript submission or immediately after receiving the acceptance notification. Applications should be sent by email to the JSSP Editorial Office at editor@jossp.com.

Each request should include the following information:

  • Manuscript title and submission ID (if available).
  • Corresponding author's full institutional affiliation and country.
  • A brief statement explaining the reason for requesting the waiver or discount.

Important Notes

  • Waiver and discount requests are reviewed solely by the Editorial Office and are handled independently of the peer-review and editorial decision-making process.
  • Editorial decisions regarding acceptance or rejection are based exclusively on the scholarly quality and scientific merit of the manuscript and are never influenced by an author's ability or inability to pay the APC or by the outcome of a waiver request.
  • Approval of an APC waiver or discount does not guarantee acceptance of a manuscript. All submissions are subject to the journal's standard double-blind peer-review process and editorial evaluation.
  • The Article Processing Charge becomes payable only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.
  • The Editorial Office reserves the right to request additional information or documentation to support a waiver application where necessary.
